Project Highlights

  • Habitat Assessment
  • Vegetation Mapping

In September 2020, Artemis Environmental conducted a habitat suitability assessment for a variety of federally-listed species, including California Red-legged Frog, California Condor, California Least Tern, Western Snowy Plover, Marbled Murrelet, and Beach Layia. As part of the habitat assessment, Artemis biologists also conducted vegetation mapping of the more than 160-acre survey area, which included vegetation communities such as Central Dune Scrub and Central Coast Riparian Scrub. The presence of Seacliff Buckwheat, the host plant of the El Segundo Blue Butterfly, was documented as part of the assessment. In addition to desktop analyses conducted prior to the survey effort, extensive mapping of resources in ArcGIS Collector was conducted, and comprehensive species lists were compiled.
